Japhet Boutin is recognized in 2023 –
The PLUS Foundation is delighted to announce that Japhet Boutin, Vice President and Director of Financial Lines Claims at Zurich North America, has been awarded the 2023 PLUS Foundation Excellence in Diversity Award. This prestigious recognition was presented at the 36th annual PLUS Conference held from December 4-6, 2023, at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas. The annual conference provides an incomparable platform for industry professionals to come together, learn and celebrate outstanding achievements in professional liability insurance.

I have witnessed first-hand the advocacy Japhet provides to so many and am extremely proud that The PLUS Foundation is recognizing her with this honor,” shared Rob Crocitto, 2023 PLUS Foundation President. The Foundation presents the prestigious award annually to a member of the insurance industry who supports the mission of the PLUS Foundation through their actions to advance diversity, equity and inclusion in the industry.
The award uses a selection process that looks for someone employed in the insurance or professional liability industry or a company or industry that supports insurance or professional liability insurance and is a member of an underrepresented group. The award is given to someone who has impacted the industry and prioritized the need for diversity within the industry.
Ms. Boutin serves as the Senior Vice President – Head of Zurich North America Technical Claims where she directs the Technical Claims Department that encompasses Financial Lines Claims, Surety, Latent and Environmental and Property Claims. Prior to this role, Ms. Boutin was the Vice President and Director of Financial Lines Claims and her responsibilities also included providing technical insight regarding D&O claims to Zurich’s Global Financial Lines Center of Excellence, as well as serving as faculty at annual global training events. Ms. Boutin has more than 25 years of experience in the insurance industry both as an attorney and a claims professional and joined Zurich in 2009. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Barnard College, Columbia University and graduated from Temple University Law School. She is currently a board member of the The Bridge Transcends organization.
