Project Description

OUR HISTORY

The PLUS Foundation was incorporated in 1998 as a separate 501 (c)(3) by industry leaders to enhance the work of the Professional Liability Underwriting Society (PLUS). This allowed companies and individuals to become part of a collective industry effort to create opportunities for new and diverse talent and to do charitable work.

After the 9/11 terrorist attacks the PLUS community responded by raising almost $200,000 within weeks, providing financial support to the families of PLUS members who perished and contributing to victim funds established by companies that were effected. Since 9/11, the Foundation has responded to other tragedies and national causes, funding concerns embraced by PLUS Members, and “Giving Back” through charitable giving.

The Foundation addressed the key issues of today by refocusing its mission to better champion tomorrow’s diverse workforce. Foundation efforts strive, through “outreach, education, mentoring and giving back,” to support individuals and groups that face obstacles to entering or advancing their careers in professional liability insurance, and populations that are underrepresented in the industry and in senior management.

Funding for the Foundation is provided by donations from PLUS members and partner companies.
