CHAPTER ALLIES
The most tangible and effective giving often happens at a local level. Since 2004 the Foundation has supported the PLUS Chapter charitable efforts by enabling members to make a difference in their communities through grants and volunteering. Since 2020 the focus of the grants is to support job preparation and workforce development.
In 2023 the PLUS Foundation provided $25,000 in grants to these eight not-for-profit organizations that were nominated by regional PLUS Chapters:
North Central Chaper
From recruitment, to helping select the appropriate training program, to securing resources to assist in paying for that training, to placement in schools that have strong induction programs, career growth opportunities and supportive cultures, Black Men Teach supports the growth of Black male educators in Twin Cities schools.
Southern California Chapter
Inspires girls to be strong, smart, and bold by helping girls ages 8 to 18 see college as attainable, to resist peer pressure while learning essential life skills, and exploring professional fields in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) in which women are under-represented.
Southwest Chapter
Addresses barriers to learning by providing individualized supports throughout pivotal stages of students’ education journeys. Programs address early warning signs of dropping out and reengage disconnected and out-of-school youth, getting them back on a path to graduation and postsecondary opportunities.
