PLUS Foundation and APIW Raise $30K for Covenant House –

Foundation President Dan Auslander, Past President Lynn Halper, and Director Sarah Goldstein slept outside overnight on November 19th to raise money and awareness of youth who live and sleep on the streets every night. Lynn Halper shared the following thoughts:

The night is over and I wanted to share what a moving program Covenant House had.  We heard from people all over the country.  There was a young man who was homeless for 2 years, when he found Covenant House he took advantage of all their programs and he now owns his own property management company and is on the board of The local Covenant House.  There was also a woman who was abused by multiple stepfathers, left home at 15, got pregnant and had a son.  Through Covenant House programs she was able to find permanent shelter, earn her high school diploma, earn her undergrad, and then her medical degree.  She is a practicing physician and her son is a healthy, happy 26 year old.  These are just two of the many stories of success.  I do this because there is this hope for these poor kids that find themselves in terrible situations and it starts with one night of safety and security and a chance.
